In a recent interview post-SDCC Marvel Boss Kevin Feige explains why he chose Terry Matalas to showrun the Vision Quest series. Post SDCC is the first time Feige has acknowledged the existence of the series, and he has called it the ‘White Vision’ series. I actually don’t think he’s referring to a title here, just that it’s the series about… white Vision. I’ve seen a few comments already that White Vision would be a decidedly poor name for a Marvel series right now. I guess I agree with that, I just don’t see it being the case.
Feige spoke to Inverse, and told them the reason he went after Matalas was because he watched Picard Season 3 which was showrun by Matalas and loved it, so he went looking for the guy who made it to offer him a job.
“That’s how I got to know him,” Feige says. “It was from his amazing [work on Picard Season 3. I said: This is incredible. I don’t know how this exists. Let me find the person who made this.”

I will just point out. Kevin, have you also seen Picard Season 2, because Matalas was also showrunner on that one. Season 2 may be the worst season of Star Trek put on screen and I kid you not. Yet, it’s also true that Matalas was late coming on board that one after scripts were already underway. Either way, it’s also my opinion that Picard Season 3 was one the best ever season’s of Star Trek, so there’s that. I do like that Marvel are finally going to get proper TV showrunners for their Disney+ shows. Here is hoping Matalas crafts a great little show.
For now, we have very little to no details of what Vision, or Vision Quest if that title sticks will be about. One would assume there would be no Wanda, but who knows? There are rumors it will feature Vision creating an android family of his own and in some ways echo WandaVision in the motivations.
What do you think as Kevin Feige explains why he chose Terry Matalas to showrun the Vision Quest series? Thoughts below as per usual.
