Kevin Feige Talks Black Panther 2 Without Chadwick Boseman

Wakanda Forever And The Tragedy Of Boseman's Death Kevin Feige Opens Up

Kevin Feige Talks Black Panther 2 without Chadwick Boseman! Read on for more details.

What is going to happen with T’Challa in Black Panther 2? Sadly actor Chadwick Boseman passed away from Cancer related problems last year when he was in his prime. Of course this has a huge impact on the future of the Black Panther franchise. So at the recent Disney Investor Day, it was announced that Black Panther 2 would move ahead, but T’Challa would not be recast. What that means for Black Panther 2 is unknown? However, Deadline recently chatted with Feige and asked him about Black Panther 2. However, Feige’s answer does not really give us much information about how this situation will be resolved.

“So much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda. Wakanda is a place to further explore with characters and different subcultures. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story. We’re not going to have a CG Chadwick and we’re not recasting T’Challa. Ryan Coogler is working very hard right now on the script with all the respect and love and genius that he has, which gives us great solace, so it was always about furthering the mythology and the inspiration of Wakanda. There’s also the task of honoring and respecting the ongoing learnings and teachings from Chad as well.”

So no CG T’Challa and no recast. However, Feige is very coy about anything further here. So the question still remains of how Marvel Studios makes Black Panther 2 without T’Challa. Could T’Challa have died off screen, or be currently away from Wakanda? The former gives closure, the latter just delays the inevitable, so I’ll guess at the former. One thing is for sure, to have a Black Panther 2, someone is going to have to suit up as the new Black Panther. Will that be Shuri, or a resurrected Killmonger, or someone new? Again, we just don’t know for now.
