Marvel Studios has quickly become the gold standard for comic book movies. With its interconnected universe, lovable characters, and consistent box office performance, it really is the envy of Tinsel Town. As a fan of cinema, it really does bring the best of it all — fantastic characters, epic stories, and great spectacle — and in my opinion, there was no greater spectacle this year than Avengers: Endgame.
Of course, Avengers: Endgame was the culmination of 21 other movies, so there was an awful lot of weight that came with it. It’s not something they can pull off every single year. Though while they clearly know they can’t do this every year, it’s clear they’re planning ahead for the next big event film.

“The MCU is all interconnected, but we really focus on one movie at a time,” Kevin Feige said at last weekend’s CCXP. “We’re going to make the best Black Widow movie we can possibly make, the best Eternals movie we can make, the best Shang-Chi, the best Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther…and keep evolving their stories. Then, yes, it is always fun to see them come together in a master plan. Which is, I promise you well-underway.”
This won’t be a surprise to anyone, as Marvel Studios has made it clear that they plan on telling stories until audiences are sick to death of them, but it is always comforting to see there is one big plan. No matter how a story turns out, fans like the idea that everything is ultimately building toward something. So, knowing that each movie will play an integral role in the main overarching tale to come is indeed pretty great to see.
