What a last few days it’s been. AVENGERS 4 COMING THIS WEEK!!! No, wait… maybe… WEDNESDAY!!! No… we… we don’t know, but that’s the way it goes in this business sometimes. Personally, I think they’re going to use it to mess with the release of Aquaman or Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse. However, Silent Bob himself, Kevin Smith, has decided to lean into the ongoing PR fiasco by claiming he is part of a bigger conspiracy:
Rumor has it that the new @Avengers trailer drops tomorrow on @GMA. And tomorrow morning, *I* will be on #GoodMorningAmerica to promote #SilentButDeadly (now available to stream or own). Coincidence? More like strategy. pic.twitter.com/2JO4pAzExS

For those of you that don’t know, Kevin is one of the biggest geeks in the industry. He has written comics, directed superhero TV show episodes from Supergirl and The Flash, and hosts his own podcasts on geek culture. This means he is likely every bit as excited for the Avengers 4 trailer as we all are. That being said, I do not think Good Morning America would announce to Smith anything about their plans for the pending trailer.
Smith is busy promoting his upcoming special Silent but Deadly, which will continue his tradition of storytelling mixed with question and answer session that he started with An Evening With Kevin Smith back in 2002. He is set to talk about it on the aforementioned GMA on Wednesday December 5th. I am a big fan of these shows and listened to the first three on a cross country road trip with a friend of mine. I was also lucky to see a condensed version of these types of shows in Hall H at the 2009 San Diego Comic-con.
What do you think about Kevin’s sense of importance? Should he apologize for his arrogance? Are you ready to picket Marvel until they agree to release the trailer? Let us know in the comments below!
