One of the biggest grains of salt to make its way around the movie news world in quite some time is that of Johnny Depp as The Joker. The rumor suggests Depp would play Batman’s most famous enemy in Matt Reeves’ upcoming (but now on hiatus) The Batman.
Writer, director, and lifelong nerd Kevin Smith recently gave his opinion on the rumored casting. Discussing the idea on his FatmanOnBatman podcast. Smith thinks Depp would be, “f***ing perfect,” as the Clown Prince of Crime. I’ve cued the video at the top of the article for you folks to the point where Depp becomes the topic of discussion, enjoy!

Johnny Depp made a name for himself playing quirky, or odd characters. Considering his past performances, there’s not a doubt in my mind that Depp could bring us a memorable version of the character. He has a way of bringing out the best, or in this case the worst in these types of characters. A Johnny Depp take on the character is something the world needs to experience
While Depp might not be the best fit for this particular Joker, (who hasn’t been confirmed to appear in the film) I think a version of the character exists for which he would be perfect. Depp may be one of a handful of actors that could step into such an iconic role that’s been played brilliantly by the likes of the legendary Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, and make his performance stand out.
