Looks like this Kickboxer remake is hoping to make a splash when it comes out. Last week, it was announced that Jean-Claude Van Damme- the star of the original- was onboard to play the lead character’s mentor. We all ready know that Dave Bautista is signed on, he of Guardians of The Galaxy and soon-to-be Spectre fame. Now The Hollywood Reporter has announced that former MMA star turned actress Gina Carano has joined the cast.

Carano ‘s profile has been rising steadily over the last few years, between being handpicked by Stephen Soderbergh to star in Haywire and appearing in the extremely lucrative Fast & Furious series. She even sat atop the wish lists of many fans when it came time to cast Wonder Woman in WB/DC’s new cinematic universe- and that wasn’t just because she was dating “Superman” Henry Cavill at the time. Carano looks the part and is able to portray raw physicality.

THR is reporting that she will play a fight promoter n Kickboxer. Not much else is known about the size of her role, but we know she won’t be the love interest because that spot has all ready been filled by Sara Malakul Lane. Carano will be joined by another MMA star, Georges St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), in this remake of the 1989 Van Damme-starrer.
