Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio is relaxed about the recent Daredevil revamp. News broke yesterday that Daredevil: Born Again was not up to the standards Marvel were looking for. As such, the show has been semi-rebooted and the writers and directors were let go. I say semi-rebooted as the show has already filmed around 7 episodes. Though these episodes will be retooled, it seems unlikely the footage will be completely scrapped.
However, D’Onofrio is chilled about it. In a recent social media post the actor was relaxed and said retooling a show during production wasn’t that unusual or that much of a big deal. In Fact he’d be more worried if they were not trying to make it even better.
Every cool project I've been involved with has evolved constantly during pre- production, production and post.
It's just reported on these days as if it's big news.
It's not.
It's simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right.
It's a constant in this business.

If think there’s two sides to this coin. The first is that as target audience for this show, I absolutely would take any delay needed to give us a better quality show. Daredevil on Netflix was the one Marvel show they nailed. However, to say it’s no big deal is I think downplaying the situation at Marvel. If you look at the report we covered in the related link above from THR, it talks about Marvel’s other shows. The issues Marvel have had with TV series is out there. Additionally, the reaction of most fans to most of the shows has been poor. Sure, there have been a few decent shows, but I’d argue the hit rate of Marvel studios has dropped dramatically since COVID arrived.
So, yes, making Daredevil great is a good thing. However look at the state of Secret Invasion which didn’t get saved/delayed by a writing and acting strike. There is a good show somewhere in Secret Invasion, it started well for me. However, I’ve rarely seen a show change genre’s and fall off a cliff so hard as Secret Invasion did. One of the worst endings of a show I’ve ever come across.
So, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio is relaxed about the recent Daredevil revamp. What say you? Is this just run of the mill in Hollywood? Thoughts below as always.
