Kingsman 3: Matthew Vaughn Confirms Threequel Will End The Harry And Eggsy Story

Okay, so things may be a bit confusing for Kingsman fans. For a good while, it seemed like the next movie on the docket would be a trilogy-capping film that ended the story between Harry and Eggsy (played by Colin Firth and Taron Egerton, respectively), but things took a turn for the weird when it was reported that they were casting for the prequel film, Kingsman: The Great Game. This went against news that had Kingsman 3 filming first.

And then, things got a little more confusing when the studio stopped referring to Kingsman: The Great Game as Kingsman: The Great Game. Instead, it was referred to as an untitled Kingsman film, which really didn’t do much to clear up any misconceptions. And finally, when Disney pushed the movie back to February 14, 2020, it still didn’t help.

But now, we have word from director Matthew Vaughn, who spoke with Digital Spy, clearing up everything. First up, he spoke up regarding the trilogy-capping film, which will be shot either later this year or next year.

“We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship,” he said. “The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year…It’s funny. As Taron was saying, he’s looking forward to becoming Eggsy again, because emotionally it’s a lot less draining.”

And as far as the currently-untitled prequel, we know some of it has at least been shot (though its current status seems unclear), it was basically confirmed that that film is the one that is set for a February 2020 release, and that it is the long talked about prequel, even if it is no longer being called The Great Game.

So, to recap, Kingsman: The Great Game is no longer titled as such, and is hitting theaters this coming February. Kingsman 3 is shooting either later this year or early next year and will end the Harry-Eggsy story.

Got it? Good.
