It seems Kit Harington is getting a bit angry at online fans asking cast and crew to remake Game of Thrones Season 8. It’s not a new fad, of course this has been going on since Season 8 aired. You’d think those asking would realise that by this far gone, it’s almost impossible, never mind it was never going to happen in the first place.
Here’s what Harington said when he spoke to New York Times about his social media experiences. Specifically Harington was asked about a change.org petition to remake Season 8 with ‘competent writers’.
“That genuinely angered me. Like, how dare you? Sorry, that’s just how I feel. I think it was a level of idiocy that can only come about through social media.”
There are no bounds to the level of idiocy and pure toxicity on certain unnamed social media networks. It is a guess a bit of a kick in the teeth to all those who worked hard on it. The cast certainly were not in charge of where the story went and a few of them have expressed dissatisfaction with their endings. Harington himself has said before that maybe they got a few things wrong at the end.

We can criticise that final season and I will happily. That is our right as a consumer to give our opinions on this piece of art. Sadly the vast majority of fans seemed to agree the final two seasons began abandoning internal logic and rushing characters towards a conclusion that felt like it should have taken an extra season, at least. My criticism is therefore saved for Benioff and Weis. It was they who made the call to end when they did and they were the showrunners.
It could have been the greatest TV show of all time with an ending that got to the same places with a bit more thought. As is, it’s still one of the best TV shows ever, the ending just feels rushed and convenient in parts.
We’ll have to live with it though until creator George R. R. Martin finishes his books and gives us his ending, If that ever happens? As the years go past, that seems an ever more unlikely scenario though.
