According to trades, there will no Avengers: Doomsday, nor Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailers at this years Superbowl. To be honest, this is rather surprising and goes against previous reports that the Doomsday teasers were the hype before the big trailer at Superbowl.
As per Deadline,
‘Disney never sits out and it’s just a matter of how much they’ll have. It would come as no surprise to see spots for Pixar’s Hoppers (March 6) and Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian and Grogu (Memorial Day weekend May 22; note the last Star Wars movie to get a Big Game spot was 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story). Pixar’s Toy Story 5 could also make a show (June 19).’
‘Word is Marvel Studios, which has Avengers: Doomsday (Dec 18) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Sony (July 31) is sitting out in what’s arguably a Super Bowl anomaly. In years past, they’ve had movies like Deadpool & Wolverine, Thunderbolts* and more.’

What is especially surprising about this is the fact that I, along with millions of others have seen the leaked Brand New Day trailer. It is real and it could be dropped at any point, so why not Superbowl? Reportedly there is also a proper trailer for Doomsday that exists and some leakers claim to have seen descriptions of it and stills.
I mean, maybe just drop both trailers either side of Superbowl on YouTube and you get all the buzz with less cost? Of course the whole point is to get the movie in front of eyes waiting on the next play starting that might not find it online. Is that still relevant in this day and age when we see new trailers smashing records for online views every year?
Who knows what the marketing suits are up to at Disney? I dare say they know more than I do about their own job. Yet, to say this is surprising is an understatement given how the community was waiting for Superbowl.
Oh and Sony/Marvel, just drop that Brand New Day trailer already. It’s only hurting the film to have people seeking out the poor quality versions at this point.
What do you think of the news that there will no Avengers: Doomsday, nor Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailers at this years Superbowl? Thoughts below.
