There are things that go bump in the night. Then again, if the sound keeps making noises in the walls—it’s either something that resides in the walls or something entirely in your head. In Knocking, the psychological horror hits hard for one woman, who lives alone with mental trauma.
The Swedish film has made its chilling premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival to many praises from critics.
Here’s the official synopsis for Knocking:
After suffering a traumatic incident, Molly moves into a new apartment to begin her path to recovery, but it’s not long after her arrival that a series of persistent knocks and screams begin to wake her up at night. Molly’s new life begins to unravel as the screams intensify and no one else in the building believes or is willing to help her.
The film stars Cecilia Milocco, Albin Grenholm, Alexander Salzberger, Krister Kern, Ville Virtanen, Charlotta Akerblom, and Naida Ragimova. Frida Kempff (Bathing Micky, Winter Buoy) directed the film from a script written by Emma Brostrom.

I’ve one of the few people who had the chance to check out the film earlier this year. It’s a psychological film that displays plenty of claustrophobia and plays on the anxieties. For horror fans, this is an absolute guessing game on whether these knockings are real or entirely in one’s head. I’m glad that the rest of the world gets to see this film behind film festivals.
Knocking is in select theaters starting on October 5. Visit its website www.knocking-film.com for exact theater locations for its showings.
