Kumail Nanjiani Has Reportedly Been Offered A Role In Sony’s Men In Black Reboot

Sony’s Men in Black reboot is close to being shot in the next few weeks. We already know that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be starring the film. Hemsworth will be playing a suave but goofy James Bond-like British agent. Thompson will be playing Molly, a young woman determined to become a Men in Black Agent. Even with shooting beginning soon, they are still casting some more characters.

According to ThatHashtagShow, Kumail Nanjiani has been offered a starting role alongside Hemsworth and Thompson. According to their source, he would be playing a character named Pawny, who is described as, “the third side kick. A funny, wise-cracking, sex-driven alien from a civilization that exists on a Chess board.”

He is well known for his role on HBO’s Silicon Valley. He also earned his first Academy Award nomination for co-writing The Big Stick. It would seem like he would have the time to take the offer as he will be wrapping up filming Stuber and The True American soon.

This Men in Black reboot will feature a new set of agents not named Agent K and J which we saw portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. The film will be building on the contemporary sci-fi world we saw them in. It will be interesting to see what director F. Gary Gary, who recently directed The Fate of the Furious, does with this alien vs. agent-filled world.

Sony’s Men in Black is scheduled to be released in theaters sometime summer 2019.
