It’s obvious and suspicious for a wounded woman to suddenly appear at a hermit’s home in the middle of the woods. There’s more than meets the eye in this action film Last Man Down.

The Swedish film takes action on a different level with a survivalist story in a post-pandemic era.

Here’s the official synopsis for Last Man Down:

After civilization succumbs to a deadly pandemic and his wife is murdered, John Wood—a special forces soldier—abandons his duty and becomes a hermit in the Nordic wilderness. Years later, a wounded woman appears on his doorstep. Maria Johnson is an escaped lab rat, and her pursuers believe her blood is key to a worldwide cure. Though John is hesitant to get involved, all doubts are cast aside when he discovers Maria’s pursuer is none other than Commander Stone, the man that murdered his wife some years ago.

The cast includes Daniel Stisen, Olga Kent, Daniel Nehme, Stanislav Yanevski, Madeleine Vall, and Natassia Malthe. Funsu Njie directed the movie based on the story by Njie and Stisen.

Last Man Down has action hero vibes for Daniel Stisen in the same veins of Arnold Schwarzenneger and Sylvester Stallone. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that Stisen is a former powerlifter champion. So, it’s great to see these types of action heroes back on-screen even if it’s a Nordic film.

Last Man Down is available On Demand and on digital on Tuesday, October 19.
