There have been quite the list of actors who have been the voice of Batman through out the years in both live-action films as well as animated films. For example some names that come to mind are Michael Keaton, Adam West, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Will Arnett, Val Kilmer and the forgettable George Clooney. There is one name I left out on purpose and that is Kevin Conroy, who for a lot of fans is the definite voice of the Dark Knight. He voiced the character in Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond as well as some of the video games that came out a few years back.

Conroy was recently a guest at MCM ComicCon where they were asking him about the performances of other actors as Bruce Wayne. Although Conroy was reluctant to call out anyone’s performance he did make a comment about about Christian Bale’s Batman voice which was picked up by comicbook.com.

“‘It sounded weird!’ Conroy said. ‘What can I say? It sounded like he had laryngitis. But he does Bruce Wayne, my god, he nails Bruce Wayne. He’s a terrific actor. Did you see American Psycho? I mean, he’s a wonderful actor. But his voice was weird as Batman.'”

There are many of us out there that agree with Conroy, Bale’s Batman voice was a little over the top. If anyone has the right to critique an actors choice for the voice of the Dark Knight, Conroy would be one of those people. Although he made the statement about Bale’s voice he did go on and compliment how good he did as Bruce Wayne. Which actually backs up an earlier statement that he had made in a previous interview where he said that, “I think some of them get Bruce Wayne more than they get Batman, and some of them get Batman more than they get Bruce Wayne.”
