It looks like the Justice League will be hating on the Green Lantern again. The character was the subject of several jokes from the first movie. I liked the first LEGO Movie. I also enjoyed The LEGO Batman Movie more than 90% of all DC movies, but it wasn’t as good as its predecessor. I was never a Ninjago fan, nor is my son, so that’s one I haven’t seen, but I do know that neither Batman or the Ninjas did as well as Emmet, Wyldstyle, and Captain Metalbeard did in the original. Next year brings us The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part and will reunite the characters from the first film as they take on aliens made of LEGO DUPLO blocks and a character named General Sweet Mayhem. All of this is based off the end of the first movie, where the human boy, Finn, learns he must share his LEGOs with his younger sister.

Part of the fun of the original movie was all of the properties and characters that got to make an appearance. I really enjoyed the scene where the “master builders” are meeting to plan how to defeat Lord Business and we get to see NBA players, Ninja Turtles, and the Justice League. Green Lantern, voiced by Jonah Hill in both films, comes off as a goober and is hated by the Man of Steel himself, Superman. There are several hilarious jokes between those two in the first film and it looks like we’ll be getting more of them in this one.
The TV spot doesn’t really give us too much more information, which is good, but unlike other properties this one doesn’t need to build much hype to get people in the seats. I hope they save the best jokes for the actual release instead of giving them away in trailers and TV spots.
