Liam Neeson Asks If Star Wars Fans Are Finished With The Franchise

Over four decades now and Star Wars is still one of the more beloved and popular franchises. That’s not to say the series hasn’t experienced periods of downtime throughout the years, but the space opera remains resilliant. I can’t picture a time when Star Wars‘ popularity drops to the point where it’s on the verge of being forgotten.

Actor Liam Neeson, who played Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace brought up the idea of fans being done with Star Wars during an interview with Collider. You can check out what he had to say below.

“I’ve done the voice for Qui-Gon Jinn in a couple of the animated versions of it. I can’t remember the names of them. Myself and Sam Jackson did our Jedi knights for those. I think I did two of them. But on film, I haven’t been approached, no. I haven’t really been following them, to be honest, I don’t know if they’ve come to an end. I heard they did a film of Harrison [Ford]’s character, Han Solo, and that there was a bit of trouble with that. What do you think? Are Star Wars fans finished with it?”

Now to many of us that question may sound absurd, but sometimes I think we have to remind ourselves that not everyone is as into film and TV, especially Star Wars, as folks like us. So we can’t be too hard on Neeson. However, I’m going to say that we Star Wars fans are not finished with it. I mentioned last night in another article how the future of Star Wars, at least on Disney+, looks bright.

Neeson, while only appearing in one live action film and lending his voice to a few episodes of the Star Wars animated series played a beloved character in Qui-Gon Jinn. He was the Jedi who found Anakin Skywalker and lobbied for the boy to be trained when the Jedi Council said he was too old. I wish a different path would have been chosen for Qui-Gon, as I quite liked the character and the way he Neeson portrayed him.
