Lift Netflix Trailer Has Kevin Hart Leading Criminals on a Heist in the Sky

Stealing a half billion dollars of gold from a bank is one thing. But, stealing half of a billion dollars of gold from a flying plane is an entirely different animal in Netflix’s Lift.

The film stars Kevin Hart (Ride Along, Central Intelligence), who must lead a band of criminals with special skills to rob a plane at 40,000 feet. The rest of the cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Belle, Beyond the Lights), Vincent D’Onofrio (Men in Black, Full Metal Jacket), Ursula Corberó (Money Heist, The Tree of Blood), Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods, Game Night), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Reginald the Vampire), with Jean Reno (Léon: The Professional, The Big Blue) and Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation).

The additional cast includes Viveik Kalra, Yun Jee Kim, Burn Gorman, and Paul Anderson. F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job, Friday) directed the film written by Daniel Kunka.

Here is the logline for the film:

An international heist crew, led by Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart), races to lift $500 million in gold from a passenger plane at 40,000 feet.

It’s nice that Kevin Hart plays the lead in a more serious role than the plucky sidekick he is usually known for in movies. He is surrounded by a capable cast under the direction of F. Gary Gray, who makes good action films. Hopefully, they can pull off an entertaining Oceans 11 in the skies.

Lift streams on Netflix on Friday, January 12.
