LOGAN Director James Mangold Wants To Do An X-23 Spinoff Movie!

In the books, X-23 (aka Laura Kinney) is basically a clone of Wolverine developed in the Weapon-X program. Ever since she was conceived, she has been a fan favorite character, and the only “Wolverine” related character I liked more was Daken. In the upcoming Logan, which is a mere 2 weeks away from being released to the public, we will get to see X-23 in action! Now granted, this is a much younger version of Laura set in the far future of the modern world. With that said, I was surprised when I learned that director James Mangold would like to do a spinoff about X-23.

While being questioned by the press in New York City, he had some surprising comments to say about Dafne Keen, the actress that plays X-23.

”I think Dafne is incredible in the film and I would love to see another film about that character and that’s certainly something I’d be involved in. For me that was one of the big additions I brought to the table, this decision to try to make the film about family and to try to insert Laura and the pressures that would put and the idea about Charles ailing.”

Supposedly, this will be the last X-Men movie that Hugh Jackman (Logan) will be involved in, and it is assumed that Keen could take over the Wolverine role much like she has done in the comics. A few problems with this is, as mentioned, her much younger age and the fact that the movie is set in 2029. But if the sequel was done in 5 years, she would be much closer to her comic age, and let’s also not forget about things such as TIME TRAVEL.

Mangold did have one more quote.

“I definitely know that Hugh and I will work together again.”

Either he is referring to a different X-Men movie, or something outside of the franchise altogether. I would like to see an actual Old Man Logan movie, so maybe we may get one final dose of Jackman.

Would you like to see X-23 take over the Wolverine role in an upcoming film? Could we actually see Jackman again? How could we get Laura with the current X-Men class? Speak up!
