Get ready to shake your body to the Conga beat because On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan hits the stage in Los Angeles this month. From the international stage talent, Luis Salgado as the director and choreographer he takes us through the music journey of the Stefan icons.  

The Synopsis

ON YOUR FEET! is the inspiring true story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan – two people who believed in their talent, their music, and each other – and became an international sensation. Now their triumph is an all-new exhilarating original musical winning the hearts of critics and audiences alike.

Exploding with some of the most iconic songs you’ve loved for years – “Rhythm is Gonna Get You,” “ Conga,” “Don’t Want to Lose You Now,” “1-2-3,” and “Coming Out of the Dark” – prepare to be on your feet from start to finish!

The Puerto Rican born Luis Salgado attended the University of Puerto Rico. After moving to New York his debut Off-Broadway in 2003 in the Fame musical. By the following year he was Diego Luna dance double in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. One of Salgados successes has been In The Heights Off-Broadway and on Broadway along with many other hits like Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Rocky. As for screen credits he has been in some titles like Across the Universe, Enchanted, Step Up: The Streets, American Gangster and the tv remake of Dirty Dancing among many others.

Last weekend I connected with him and talked about the advantages of being the director and choreographer for one project and how he got involved in taking over the assignment. And where does the story start on stage and how much of the Spanish sound was integrated although it’s an English play and more!
