Ever since Mads Mikkelsen was cast in Disney/Lucasfilm’s upcoming flick, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, it seems to have almost been a foregone conclusion that the Danish actor would be playing a baddie of some kind. Considering the actor’s filmography, it’s hard to disagree with that. From his role as Le Chiffre in CASINO ROYALE to his chilling portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in the the TV series HANNIBAL, he’s an actor that’s definitely most recognizable in his villainous roles.
The first trailer for ROGUE ONE was released a couple weeks back, and we were no closer to knowing just who he was playing. That’s finally changed…mostly. The reveal come in the most unlikely of places. When talking to SkyNews, Mikkelsen straight-up revealed who he’s playing the flick. The answer is a bit surprising.

“I read the script. It was very beautiful and Felicity’s playing this lovely, strong woman [and] I play her father, and… uhh, that’s too much, I’m sorry!â€
So in a huge plot twist, it looks like Mikkelsen won’t be playing a villain after all. Of course, that may be jumping to conclusions a bit. For all weknow, Felicity Jones’ character could be something of a Rebel against an Imperial father. We don’t know their relationship or his overall role in the film, so there’s always room for him to end up on the side of evil.
Let the speculation begin! What do you expect to see out of Mikkelsen’s character, and what do you think his dynamic with Jones’ character will be? Let us know your thoughts down below!
