Sometime next year my favourite ever TV show is going to end. Game of Thrones 8th and final Season is still in production and as yet we do not know exactly when in 2019 the final season will air on HBO. Many of the major cast members have already finished filming their scenes back in May and June, such as Lena Heady (Cersei) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys).

Now Maise Williams has wrapped on Game of Thrones Season 8 as well. The actor who plays assassin supreme Arya Stark took to Instagram to say farewell to the show and the character she has been playing now for most of her life. Check out the image below.

Now fans have gotten their underwear in a twist over the hashtags she uses, specifically #lastwomanstanding. This has caused fans to speculate that Williams has inadvertently revealed her character will survive Season 8. However, this is a bit of a stretch. It is far more likely Williams is referring to the fact that she is the last of the major female leads to finish her filming duties, which indicates nothing of the plot. Films and TV shows are rarely filmed in chronological order, if you know anything about production then you will be acutely aware of this fact. If there is a set that several characters all visit throughout the season, it makes sense to film all those scenes when the production is using that set.
So whilst I am not saying Williams will not survive the end of Game of Thrones, she may well do, we just don’t know yet. Williams hashtag in my interpretation does not spoil the fate of Arya Stark in any way. However, this is just my own interpretation and you should absolutely decide for yourselves.
I can’t wait to see how they wrap up this show and I just hope it has an ending as epic as it deserves to have. At this point showrunners Benioff and Weiss have author GRR Martin’s blessing to finish the tale in the way they think it should end. How much this will match up with the books, if and when Martin ever finishes them is up for debate. The problem is that even the most ardent fans of A Song of Ice and Fire (The novels) have serious doubts about whether Martin will ever finish the next book (The Winds of Winter), never mind the finale which follows that (A Dream of Spring).
Sound off below about Maise Williams use of hashtags, or anything else about Game of Thrones you want to discuss.
