Just like the Millennium Falcon flying through hyperspace, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker news has been coming at us at light speed. It has been difficult to navigate many of the outlets lately because of course, we want Star Wars news, but there have been a good number of intense spoilers out there, and if you don’t have any will-power when it comes to avoiding spoilers, like me, then it has been a tricky line to balance.
Above is a fun interview with the legend himself, Mark Hamill. I would recommend watching all of the sections, but around the 1:30 mark, he speaks specifically on who exactly he wanted to return for the final installment. So what original characters did he want to return? All of them!
The section primarily talks about the return of Billy Dee Williams, but Hamill says that he feels that any individuals still living who were involved in the originals, no matter the size of their role, should return. He expressed that it would be the ultimate conclusion for this cycle of characters as well as paying homage to the originals. Hamill went on to discuss how great it was to have Williams back and that during the original trilogy he was starstruck because the rest of the cast were newbies while Williams was already an established actor.
I am a sucker for nostalgia, and I love when films bring back the original cast (if they are done well) like the other Star Wars films, the Halloween franchise, or even on the small screen as The CW has done with this year’s crossover event.
