Mark Millar Thinks Taron Egerton Would Be Great As The Next Wolverine – Do You?

One of the most important casting decisions that Marvel Studios has before them, is who to cast as the new Wolverine. The X-Men are now back under the control of Marvel Studios and though it may be some time yet, they will have to pick a new Wolverine at some point.

Wolverine is still a character immediately associated with Hugh Jackman’s portrayal, but one thing we can be sure of is that Jackman is done with the role, now being too old to play the character for any length of time. So who would make a good fit for Logan in the MCU? Mark Millar, who is no stranger to the Marvel comics himself has come out and said he thinks Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Rocketman) would be a great fit, check it out.

Now, I get that Millar somewhat prophetically had a Samuel L. Jackson lookalike character as Nick Fury back in 2002, and that he even referenced Robert Downey Jr. long before the icon was attached to Iron Man, but, I have a hard time seeing Egerton as Wolverine. I’m not really getting the hook with this piece of fan casting, and yet there were some unsubstantiated rumors circling around Egerton for this role.

For me the only thing that connects Egerton and Wolverine is that they are both pretty short. Other than that I struggle to think of any benefits to having Egerton play one of Marvel’s biggest and most loved characters. However, as far as we know, Millar has no inside line here and is just fan-casting Egerton himself, so I won’t start worrying yet.

Honestly, I don’t see Marvel casting Wolverine for another few years at this point, but lets hope they are already thinking about who out there would be perfect for the role. Marvel continually impress me with their casting decisions, so I am  happy to wait and see what Kevin Feige and co. come up with nearer the time.

Do you agree with Millar about Egerton, or like me do you just not see it at all? Sound off about who you would cast as Wolverine in the MCU in the usual spot below.
