Martin Wilson on Bringing A Shark Thriller to Life in Great White [Exclusive Interview]

Sharks are the terror of the seas. And director Martin Wilson are pulling all the stops to bring Great White to life with these ocean hunters.

The film stars Katrina Bowden, Aaron Jakubenko, Kimie Tsukakoshi, Tim Kano, and Te Kohe Tuhaka. The screenplay is written by Michael Boughen.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In Great White, a blissful tourist trip turns into a nightmare for five passengers when their seaplane goes down near a shipwreck. Stranded miles from shore in an inflatable life raft, they find themselves in a desperate fight for survival as they try to make it to land before they either run out of supplies or are taken by a menacing pack of sharks lurking just beneath the surface.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with director Martin Wilson on the shark thriller that’ll puts fear in the middle the ocean. In this Jaws-like adventure, it features a picturesque Australia tropical waters with victims floating on a claustrophobic sinking raft surrounded by two blood-thirsty creatures circling for its next meal.

Martin Wilson has a career in the industry for the past twenty-five years. His short film Wait ‘Til Your Father Gets Home was featured in multiple festivals, including Telluride Independent Festival and Palm Springs Film Festival. In 2004, he directed Roll, which was distributed by ShowTime, Screenwest, and SBS Independent. His extensive television commercial work includes Cowards Punch campaign with Danny Green, which won several awards and the term “King Hit” and “One Punch” landed in the Urban Dictionary. Also, he wrote several screenplays and is a Bill Warnock Award nominee. In 2017, he was commissioned by Melissa Kelly of Factor 30 Films to write Stoneking as part of the scripted slate development funded by Screenwest. His screenplay Wolf Force One was recently optioned by Ambience Entertainment.

Great White is available in theaters, On Demand and digital starting tomorrow, July 16.
