We all have different Phobias in life. I would argue that if you said you weren’t afraid of anything, you’re a liar. The power of fear could really affect the way you live your life. It could stop you from doing certain things or going certain places. This is why the idea of weaponizing fear has always been pondered. In this day and age that is something, I feel that we see through social media and news networks. But is there a way that you can capture pure fear and use it against your adversaries? This is something that a mad scientist-like doctor is trying to accomplish in the Vertical Entertainment film, Phobias.
Here is the synopsis for Phobias:
Five dangerous patients, suffering from extreme phobias at a government testing facility, are put to the ultimate test under the supervision of a crazed doctor and his quest to weaponize fear.
What is really cool about Phobias is that it explores five different fears. Although the overall film has one plotline with the doctor, the phobias are presented in an anthology format. Each one handled by a different writer/director. The film takes a look at Robophobia, the fear of robots, drones, robot-like mechanics, or artificial intelligence. Vehophobia, the fear of driving. Ephebiphobia, the fear of young teenagers. Hoplophobia, the morbid fear of guns and firearms. Last but not least, Atelophobia, the fear of not doing something right or the fear of not being good enough.
The cast of Phobias has some well-known stars including Leonardo Nam, Martina Garcia, Hana Mae Lee, Lauren Miller Rogen, Alexis Knapp, Macy Gray, and Ross Partridge. It features directors Joe Sill, Maritte Lee Go, Chris von Hoffmann, Camilla Belle, and Jess Varley.
