The latest Mutant related Barside Buzz says that Marvel are looking to cast younger actors for their X-Men Reboot and it won’t be an origin story. It’s pretty common knowledge in the industry that the X-Men Reboot is in development and could film just after Secret Wars is completed. Rumor is the casting process is now underway and the odd rumored casting choice is popping up. So far, no one I rate highly enough is making any claims. However, Daniel RPK has posted what he’s heard on his Patreon.
Daniel has heard the idea here is to go for actors in the 20-30 range. They’re not looking at very young actors (teenagers) but they do want a young cast that can carry these roles on for a long time. Hence that 20-30 age range. Daniel has also heard that like Fantastic Four: First Steps, the X-Men Reboot won’t be an origin story. That we will begin with the team already formed at Professor X’s school for the gifted.

I think most readers will agree with me. If this rumor is true, then they are making the right decisions. I feel since Mutants are already showing up, and likely involved in Secret Wars, the reboot needs to start with a new mission, not a new start. Of course that does likely mean a whole new cast, or a mostly new cast.
The only characters where I’d be looking for someone slightly older are Logan and Professor X. However, rumor is Wolverine will not initially be a part of the team and remain played by Jackman for a while yet. As for Professor X, well that’s just an obvious one. I do think Patrick Stewart is now too old though, and the role of Xavier should be recast.
So what do you think of this rumor that Marvel are looking to cast younger actors for their X-Men Reboot and it won’t be an origin story? Thoughts below.
