Marvel Rumor: Krysten Ritter And Charlie Cox To Keep Their Roles As Jessica Jones And Daredevil Moving Forward?

It was a sad day when Daredevil was canceled, it really was. I honestly thought Daredevil was one of the best TV shows around, and some of the best MCU content we had gotten overall. I thoroughly enjoyed all three season of Daredevil on Netflix. However, I cannot say the same for Jessica Jones, where I thought the first season was interesting purely for David Tennant’s Kilgrave, Season 2 was awful and Season 3 not much better.

Today we have a rumor from MCU Cosmic, who have a hit and miss ratio when it comes to scoops. The outlet claims that someone high up at Marvel wants to see Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter resume their roles as Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones respectively going forward in some form in the MCU. That does not necessarily mean reviving both shows, but whatever they have planned, the idea would be to retain the services of both actors, allowing some continuity.

Now we can say for certain that it would be a little time yet before anything is announced with Daredevil and longer still for Jessica Jones. Netflix had an exclusivity clause meaning these characters could not appears outside their own streaming service for two years after last appearing on Netflix. That means it would be October, 2020 before Marvel can announce anything with Daredevil and June, 2021 before we could see Jessica Jones return. Though this is as far as we know, and it’s always possible that Disney and Netflix could have made some change to this arrangement we are simply not party to at this stage, but it does seem unlikely.

There is no mention of any of the other Netflix characters in the outlet’s report, and one would imagine that Luke Cage and Iron Fist might not be a top priority. As for Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, well I think most fans would love to see him return, but where exactly would you have a Punisher show appear, certainly not Disney+? Hulu would be a possibility, but then how linked into the MCU as a whole could that really be if it’s the only MCU show on that part of their streaming service?

I guess time will tell with this one, and I certainly would like to see both Cox and Ritter return to these roles, I just want someone else to take a shot at writing Jessica Jones, because whilst Ritter was perfect, the show was far from it in my opinion. But, hey, hey, I want your cray, cray…Right?

What do you think of this rumor, is it one you’d like to see proved correct, or is it time to move on from Cox and Ritter going forward? Have no fear, comment below and be a hero.
