More X-Men casting rumors and details on Avengers: Endgame ‘Encore’ seven minutes of new footage. Welcome to the latest batch of Marvel Barside Buzz. This weekend roundup covers all the biggest rumors that have dropped online since Friday. As per above, let’ s begin with the latest update on the X-Men casting rumors.
As of last week we had two names rumored as confirmed for X-Men, that being Adam Driver as either Magneto/Mister Sinister/William Stryker depending on who you read, and the one that’s in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. For what it’s worth my money is on Mister Sinister for Driver, but what do I know?
A few more names have been mentioned as in the mix, but adding to that were both Jeff Sneider and co-host John Rocha on this week’s edition of The Hot Mic. You can watch the full show below, but I’ll hit the big points below and I have separated the comments of both so you know what Jeff said and what John said, who definitely has sources (Hulk/Punisher in Spider-Man) but isn’t on the same level as Jeff is.
Jeff
Lists have shortened but no one has been cast yet (assume he means other than two I mentioned above). Bill Skarsgard, Tom Pelphrey and Drew Starkey are all names he’s heard in the mix for Professor X. He corroborates the rumours that Cailee Spaeny is in contention for the role of Rogue in the film. Meanwhile Monica Barbaro is a name Jeff has heard mentioned for a character named “Ruth”?
A young (team) X-Men film seems to be the order of the day he’s heard, which makes sense with the age of cast members we do know about.
Names I’ve heard for X-MEN:
Tom Pelphrey, Drew Starkey and Bill Skarsgard for Professor X. I like Starkey here… keep an eye on him. He’s due for something BIG.

John
Rocha says previous rumor Patrick Wilson is not in the running for Professor X and he says of Sneider’s list, Skarsgaard is top choice. He has heard Driver is already attached, but only knows it’s a villain role and not Magneto. In fact Rocha says Magneto, nor Wolverine will be in the film at all. They want new villains and the plan is that Jackman will stick around for a bit post-Secret Wars. The new villains he says they are looking at are Mister Sinister and Apocalypse and they may be setting both up as the big bad and it gives them room to pivot between them.
Cooper Hoffman is in the mix for Cyclops, and he’s heard Charles Melton (broken by Sneider) is Beast. Finally he says Emma Frost is an anti-hero in the film and Marvel would love Margot Robbie, they however realise that is unlikely.

Oh and Charles Melton was recently asked about these X-Men rumours by The Playlist.
“Wow. Who’s directing? Absolutely It does interest me for sure. Oh, yeah. That would be cool. What a dream. What a dream.”
Endgame Encore
We also have a few rumored details around the ‘Encore’ version of Avengers: Endgame that’s coming back to theatres this Fall.
I hear the Avengers: Endgame Encore will have a new intro, new bonus scenes, and the ending sequence will lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday.
