Marvel Studios Finds Writers For The Enternals

Marvel Studios’ previously announced The Eternals film has found its writers!

The studio behind this year’s two biggest hits, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, has hired writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo, per Deadline. Their spec script Ruin hit the top of the 2017 Black List – which is a pretty big deal – launching them into Marvel Studios’ orbit.

In the comics, the story of the Enternals began millions of years ago when cosmic beings known as Celestials ( Ego was a Celestial in the Marvel Cinematic Universe previously) genetically experimented on humans. The result? Super-powered and near-immortal beings with a a more villainous off-shoot called the Deviants. These two races moved behind the scenes throughout human history, though often they get a little too involved with human affairs for our own good.

Good ole’ Jack Kirby created the comic in 1976 during his cosmic hero stage. This series was part of his return to Marvel after leaving for DC in 1970, where he created the comparable New Gods, which DC is developing into a movie.

The Firpo Bros. are best known for Ruin, which tells the story of an ex-Nazi captain who, in an attempt to atone for his crimes, ends up hunting down and killing members of his former SS squad. Makes me think of Hugo Stiglitz from Ingloruious Basterds… so that sounds great!
