With Kevin Feige sidling his way into the position of chief creative officer over at Marvel Entertainment, things are bound to be changing. As I mentioned in an earlier piece today, this could very well lead to the end of Ike Perlmutter’s reign over the company he helped resuscitate from the brink of death back in 1996.
But what does this mean for some of the big vets over at Marvel? According to Variety, Jeph Loeb, who has been the head over at Marvel Television since 2010, is expected to leave the company “in the coming weeks.”
In all honesty, this isn’t the biggest surprise. Marvel Television has recently started shifting its focus to animated projects (like the whole batch of shows coming to Hulu), and their live-action projects seem to be dwindling. With Marvel Studios seemingly taking the lead for all future live-action stuff, it does feel like Marvel Television’s own role is changing within the company.
What do you think of this revelation? Are you sad to see Loeb go? Keep in mind that through all this, Loeb had to deal with making superhero content on TV-friendly budgets, so he can’t exactly be blamed for not producing film-quality productions at every turn.
