Marvel To Bring Back Netflix Stars With A Catch | Barside Buzz

According to the latest Barside Buzz, Jessica Jones has been replaced by Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again.

This won’t be the first rumor saying Marvel to bring back Netflix stars from the Defenders series of shows. It’s something fans have been eager to hear more about ever since those formerly canon MCU shows began to get cancelled. There are serious rumors that Charlie Cox (Daredevil) has already made his MCU movie debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, according to That Hashtag Show, this is just the start.

According to the outlet several of those Netflix stars have closed deal to play ‘MCU Version’ of the characters they played on Netflix. THS says the appearances will be spread across MCU phases 4 and 5. They say Vincent D’Onofrio might make a small appearance in Hawkeye which just wrapped filming. D’Onofrio will then go on to play a pivotal role in the rumored Echo show starring Alaqua Cox, a character we will first meet in Hawkeye.

In addition THS also says that Jon Bernthal and Krysten Ritter are expected to appear in an upcoming unnamed Disney+ show. However when it comes to Luke Cage and Iron First, the outlet thinks those roles will be recast, if used.

None of this is really Earth-shattering as we have been hearing these kinds of rumors for ages. What is new is the fact THS say these are rebooted characters and not the Netflix ones. I.e. those Netflix shows must take place in another corner of the Multiverse. It slowly became crazy to imagine those Netflix shows as canon when actors kept being used in other MCU roles. It would be weird when Blade turns up and Luke Cage is like, “Cottonmouth, you’re back from the dead!”. We’ve also heard today that Ben Barnes was offered another MCU role outside of his Russo/Jigsaw gig in Punisher. That story will be up in an hour from now.

So rumor is, Marvel to bring back Netflix stars. but as new version of the characters. What do you think, is this a good idea, a bad idea, or a decent enough compromise if true? Any thoughts regarding the Defenders below as always.
