The latest Marvel Barside Buzz says Marvel’s SDCC this year will be focused on movies and also claims the Russos were rejected for Avengers 5. The information comes from Jeff Sneider on the latest edition of The Hot Mic podcast.
Sneider and co-host Rocha discussed what to expect from Marvel’s return to Hall H at SDCC this year. Sneider said he’s heard that the SDCC show will be bigger than D24 and focused mainly on the movie slate. He cannot say for certain no Disney+ shows will be discussed. However, he thinks those could be saved for D24.
He also said he thinks we’ll see footage from Captain America: Brave New World (early 2025) and may even get the Fantastic Four cast on stage. After all, we now know they are starting filming the day after SDCC on The Fantastic Four movie. How hard would it be to schedule them all to turn up in San Diego for a day?

Sneider also had some rather surprising news about the Russo Brothers. The directors of Marvel’s most successful Avengers movies were apparently rejected for Avengers 5. Sneider says the Russos wanted to direct Avengers 5, which still has no director, but Marvel said now. Sneider said he thinks this could be down to budget, citing how deep the Russo budgets have gone in recent movies.
Ether way, saving on budget is one thing, however delivering a great movie is what will equal profit. I dare say there will be a few fans unhappy if the Russos were rejected for monetary reasons. Especially of Avengers 5 isn’t that good?
