Doom, the game that gave parents nightmares, was blamed for school shootings, and spawned a terrible movie will be getting a TV series documentary about its creation. Doom came out in 1993 and followed the formula of Wolfenstein 3D with its first-person shooter format, gameplay, and violence. The game took violence to the next level (for the time period) though and found itself blamed for the Columbine High School shooting and was banned in several countries. Many sequels have followed, to varying degrees of success, with much less controversy. There was a film starring Dwayne Johnson released in 2005 that was critically panned and hated by fans alike. An unconnected film called Doom: Annihilation is set to be released this year and it looks worse than the 2005 film… much, much worse.
