MASUMI Transitions From Singer To Martial Arts in Debut with Yakuza Princess [Exclusive Interview]

Yakuza Princess starring MASUMI

For this weekend, there are plenty of martial arts and kung fu action in the theaters. Based on the graphic novel called Shiro and starring MASUMI, Yakuza Princess follows a katana-wielding woman hellbent on protecting herself from a crime gang.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in the expansive Japanese community of Sao Paulo in Brazil—the largest diaspora in the world—Yakuza Princess follows Akemi (MASUMI), an orphan who discovers she is the heiress to half of the Yakuza crime syndicate. Forging an uneasy alliance with an amnesiac stranger who believes an ancient sword binds their two fates, Akemi must unleash a war against the other half of the syndicate who wants her dead.

The film also stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Tsuyoshi Ihara. Vincente Amorim directed the film from the adapted screenplay written by Fernando Toste and Kimi Howl Lee. It is based on the graphic novel Shiro by Danilo Beyruth.
