In the recent years Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle’s relationship has been put into the forefront of the stories that have been told in television and in comic books. Tom King’s run on DC’s Batman comic series even had a story line that lead to the wedding day of the two. FOX’s series Gotham also focused on the relationship between the two, in which Kyle was played by Cameron Bicondova. Will Matt Reeve’s upcoming Batman film also shine a spotlight on this on and off love hate relationship?
While we don’t know what take on Kyle’s character we are going to get, we can at least now be certain that her character is in the film and according to Deadline and other sources, she will be played by Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz. An interesting note is that she has already voiced Catwoman in Warner Bros.’ The Lego Batman Movie. She will be joining Robert Pattinson who has the title role as Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Jonah Hill who is in talks for a mystery villain role. The film will feature a script co-written by Mattson Tomlin and Reeves.
Along with Bicondova on Gotham, Catwoman has also been portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises and Halle Berry in Catwoman. As far as villains on screen she may be most used by film and television creative teams after the Joker out of Batman’s rogues gallery. Zoe Kravitz herself has built a good list of films that she has worked on that include The Fantastic Beasts and Divergent franchisees, as well as X-Men: First Class and Mad Max Fury Road. She is repped by Paradigm, Untitled Entertainment and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel.
