Cree and Isabel Merced in Turtles All the Way Down

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a severe mental illness. Over the years, Hollywood portrayed OCD as a comedic disorder of people often doing things in repetition. The book-to-movie adaptation Turtles All the Way Down is a dramatic story of a young girl taking strides in coping with her OCD battles starring Isabel Merced (Madam Web)from the best-selling novel by John Green.

The film also stars Cree (Mr. Iglesias), J. Smith-Cameron (Succession), Felix Mallard (Ginny & Georgia), and Hannah Marks (Don’t Make Me Go). Marks directed the film based on the adapted screenplay written by Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker.

Here is the full synopsis:

Turtles All the Way Down tackles anxiety through its 17-year-old protagonist, Aza Holmes. It’s not easy being Aza, but she’s trying…trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control. When she reconnects with Davis, her childhood crush, Aza is confronted with fundamental questions about her potential for love, happiness, friendship, and hope.
