Ewan McGregor still has no idea about Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2, but he thinks he will play Obi-Wan again, even if in something else. The Star Wars actor was speaking with LADbible and assured them that he’s had no phone call from Disney about a new show.
“The truth is I’ve talked about having to cover for doing the Obi-Wan season for years, I had to lie about that and I’m not lying about this now,” McGregor confessed to LADbible. “I don’t know. There’s been no phone call to me from Lucasfilm, or Disney saying, ‘Let’s do another one.’ Obi-Wan was made as a limited series and it’s out and people like it, which I’m very, very pleased about. I love doing it. I hope we get a chance to do another one and I’m sure we will. I’m pretty sure, you know, I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in Star Wars: A New Hope. So there’s time to tell more stories in there.”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Having a new story with McGregor as Obi-Wan is fine by me. However, it needs to be treated with more care than Obi-Wan Kenobi was. It was, despite what McGregor says not that well received by the fan base. Any future stories with Obi-Wan need to not include Vader, or Leia. Therefore, you could make the argument another series would not be called Obi-Wan Kenobi . After all, can it really be a second series of that show without Leia and Vader?

Have Obi-Wan sent to learn some lesson by Qui-Gon, or help prevent more Jedi being tracked by the Empire. Luke is fine with no one looking for him and Vader is busy doing what he does. I’d also accept a singular story where McGregor turns up in a smaller role. But no more Leia or fights against Vader. Those three should not interact again until A New Hope.
What do you think of his comments as Ewan McGregor still has no idea about Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2, but he thinks he will play Obi-Wan again? What would work for you as a fan? Thoughts below as always.
