MCU Disney+ News Round Up | No Chris Evans Cameo On Falcon And Winter Soldier, Plus The Russos Have An Eye On Moon Knight

You are probably well aware that the first forays of the MCU into the Disney+ landscape are filming now, we are even starting to get a few set photos from Falcon and Winter Soldier, though nothing very exciting thus far. One question that has been on the lips of fans is whether we could see Chris Evans reprise his role as ‘Old Cap’ for a cameo in the upcoming limited series. Well according to Chris Evans himself that’s just not going to happen.

Evans recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight to promote his new movie Knives Out, and he was asked if there was any possibility of him cameoing in Falcon and Winter Soldier.

“No, probably not. I mean it was really tough to say goodnight. There was a million ways that whole tenure with Marvel could have gone wrong and it didn’t, and so to stick the landing so well they would be ashamed to kind of revisit unless there was something very unique and we felt the need to reveal. So for now, it just feels like let’s just let’s be content with how well it ended.”

This is sensible. Cap said what he needed to say to Sam in Endgame, and he’s an old man now. The only connection I would be looking for is for Sam Wilson to somehow end up with super serum so that he gains Cap’s superhuman abilities, as that’s the thing missing for me for Sam to truly become Captain America. If they were ever going to have Steve Rogers come back, then for me it should be some years down the line and it would be interesting to see Cap as an older man having to deal with some sort of situation within his alternative universe, Peggy and Cap having to come out of retirement as it were. If I go even further it would be great to have Howard Stark involved in that and to actually realize Cap was still alive before he was killed by Bucky later, again, this being an alternate timeline, not the prime one from the MCU.

Talking of upcoming Disney + shows, we know that the likes of Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight are going to be making their MCU debuts on the streaming service at some point in the future. It just so happens that Marvel’s most famous directing siblings the Russos would be interested in doing some work with Moon Knight. The pair recently spoke with Inverse, and they were asked with all the new shows coming to Disney+, which could tempt them back to Marvel. Joe Russo gave this response.

Moon Knight would be fun. It’s hard to say because we’re in the middle of Cherry right now. We’re on location in Cleveland shooting at the moment. But anything Marvel does is going to be special. And we’ve had such an amazing working relationship with them that I’m sure we’re all gonna find something to come back together.”

It does seem like perhaps even directing an episode or two of Moon Knight might be a little hard for the pair with all they have going on right now. Though, who knows, by the time Moon Knight begins to film, perhaps the Russos could be free for the shorter period required to direct an episode or two of the show. More realistically, perhaps when Moon Knight eventually makes the jump to movie theaters, something Kevin Feige has already said is part of the plan, perhaps the Russos would be available? Personally, I’d love to see the pair make the jump into the Star Wars franchise for a time, and come back to Marvel later on, but we just don’t know what Lucasfilm is planning with Star Wars right now, or when Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie is going to materialize. I’ll be waiting to see where the Russos go for their tentpole franchise buzz next with bated breath.
