In the supposed last chapter of The Purge series, The Forever Purge ends with a Mexican in the protagonist roles.
Universal Pictures released a new featurette for The Forever Purge with its Latino stars Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, along with director Everardo Gout on bringing the Latino vision to this franchise.
In the fifth film of the franchise, the Latino cast crosses cultural and geographic lines to defend their dignity when they are targeted by a gang of masked killers left unsatiated by the annual 12-hour Purge.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Forever Purge:
Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and her husband Juan (Tenoch Huerta) live in Texas, where Juan is working as a ranch hand for the wealthy Tucker family. Juan impresses the Tucker patriarch, Caleb (Will Patton), but that fuels the jealous anger of Caleb’s son, Dylan (Josh Lucas). On the morning after The Purge, a masked gang of killers attacks the Tucker family—including Dylan’s wife (Cassidy Freeman), and his sister (Leven Rambin), forcing both families to band together and fight back as the country spirals into chaose and the United States begins to disintegrate around them.
James DeMonaco, the franchise creator, wrote the screenplay.

The franchise began back in 2013 with The Purge, in which surprised audiences with maniacal killers in masks haunting a family in a secured home. Overall, the franchise has generated over $450 million with modest production budgets. The previous film, The First Purge, earned over $137 million that became the highest-grossing film of the franchise.
There is interest from Blumhouse to continue the franchise, but DeMonaco wants to end the franchise with The Forever Purge. However, if the film does generate decent revenues during this pandemic recovery, then do expect the franchise to continue.
The Forever Purge celebrates its release for the Fourth of July weekend on Friday, July 2.
