Well this has been confusing, but Michael Waldron IS writing Marvel’s Nova, but not it’s a film and not a TV series. Frankly, let me start by saying I think this is a good idea and I’m more exciting for a Nova movie with big budget effects than I am the TV version of the same.
The information comes from Deadline here folks, so no question of legitimacy, but let’s explore how we got here first. You can check the related section below where we shared the rumor Waldron was writing a Nova series, then we updated a retraction one site were told by Marvel, only for this to come out now by Deadline.
Phew, anyway, here’s what the trade reports,
‘After rumors started to spread of a potential Nova project from filmmaker Michael Waldron last week, sources now tell Deadline that the Chad Powers creator is developing a feature film around the comic at Marvel Studios. Insiders stress the project is still in early development but that Waldron is on board to pen the script with eye to directing the project if it moves forward.’

Whether this version will be the one that goes to film, or whether it will pass through many hands before production, who knows? I just hope they actually get it into production because I think it could really open up the cosmic side of the MCU. I mean we have Fantastic Four, X-Men, plus all the Guardians stuff already established to pull from in the cosmic MCU. I want to see them have their own non-Avengers event movie. Not every team in Marvel comics was the Avengers. Though if they need the branding we could have cosmic-Avengers.
