Is a nex Xbox console set to be revealed soon?

Microsoft is going for a unique strategy. While it hasn’t been 100% confirmed, all signs have pointed to them launching multiple consoles and making most of their money off of their games service. And yet, so far, we’ve only seen the Xbox Series X. With the holiday release of the console, time seems to be running out for them to reveal any potential big console. As it turns out, we were supposed to hear about the console this month (June).

According to Eurogamer, the Xbox Series S was supposed to be revealed as a part of their E3 show. Of course, with E3 not officially taking place due to the pandemic, that couldn’t happen. For those who don’t know, the Xbox Series S is supposed to be their lower-powered console that will be a more accessible entry point for consumers. The console hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it seems inevitable.

So, with June virtually over, when can we expect the reveal? Eurogamer is reporting that the reveal has been pushed to August of this year. While this is great because it gives us an idea of what to expect, it does leave June without any big announcements from Microsoft.

Earlier this year, Microsoft branded a series of “monthly moments” as Xbox 20/20. With this console reveal being pushed, that means June won’t have a 20/20 moment. Though, given all the other stuff that’s happened this year, this is hardly unexpected or disheartening. We’re living in an era where practically everything under the sun is previously-unseen territory. Companies have had to adapt like never before, and this is no different.

Personally, I’m interested to see their new strategy play out. With Sony utilizing a more classic strategy of focusing on console exclusives, I’m curious if Microsoft’s emphasis on accessibility will pay off.
