Mirai English Trailer Features Voices Of John Cho, Rebecca Hall, and Daniel Dae Kim

Acclaimed animation director Mamoru Hosoda’s next film, Mirai, is finally hitting the U.S. in all its dubbed glory. As with many dubs of prestige films like this, it features a cast of voice actors who have made more of a name for themselves in the U.S. as live-action actors, and this one is no different. In this particular film, we have John Cho, Rebecca Hall, and Daniel Dae Kim voicing characters in the flick.

For those who don’t know Hosoda is probably one of the more well-known Japanese anime directors in the States whose name is not Hayao Miyazaki. He’s helmed such great movies as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars, but some of you old-school anime fans may even remember seeing some of his work in the U.S. years ago with the Digimon Movie. And as is evident in this trailer, he’s come a long way.

Below is the official synopsis for Mirai:

“When four-year-old Kun meets his new baby sister, his world is turned upside down. Named Mirai (meaning “future”), the baby quickly wins the hearts of Kun’s entire family. As his mother returns to work, and his father struggles to run the household, Kun becomes increasingly jealous of baby Mirai… until one day he storms off into the garden, where he encounters strange guests from the past and future – including his sister Mirai, as a teenager. Together, Kun and teenage Mirai go on a journey through time and space, uncovering their family’s incredible story. Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, and featuring the voices of John Cho, Rebecca Hall, and Daniel Dae Kim.”

Keep an eye out for our interviews with Hosoda in the near future!

Mirai hits theaters for a limited time on November 29, 2018.
