Japanese singer Mirei is back on the touring circuit after the pandemic as she makes a big welcome at this year’s Anime Expo 2023.
During the pandemic pause, she had her new international debut album titled Take Me Away which is finally available to her Japanese fans after its original release three years.
Most recently, the smash hit Lonely in Tokyo was released in the Japanese version that portrays the dark realities of the Japanese idol industry by luring the innocent dreams of aspirations while leaving one lost and lonely.
The new EP included the Japanese version of the track and a new Phonk House Remix featuring Benxni of Starkids.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with Mirei after her performance at the NOVO on July 2nd as part of the 2023 Anime Expo Summer Fest. We talked about her inspirations, influences, English album, and living as a Japanese idol.
In Japan, Mirei is known as Touyama Mirei and is a prominent music figure with hits from Sony Music since 2014. She began writing music in English five years ago when she resided in Brooklyn, NY, to push her potential as an artist. Her Japanese-language tracks gathered more than 330 million streams domestically in Japan, with 730 million streams worldwide. With her impressive numbers, she earned the title of “songstress of streaming.”
