In anticipation of the upcoming sci-fi Dune, Mondo announced the release of the collectible vinyl movie soundtrack and three exclusive unique poster artwork. The release date for the film is October 22.
First, the vinyl called The Dune Sketchbook: From the Soundtrack Vinyl features expanded suits of all the music that Hans Zimmer created for the film. It marries his fandom for the expansive book series with his finished score of the film.
The soundtrack is split across three colored vinyl records, which are developed in conjunction with WaterTower Music. It clocks at 100 minutes in nine tracks that feature all of Hans Zimmer’s typical bombast and deafening drums. The extended cues feature huge swathes of arpeggiated synths, vocal chants, and rumbling bagpipes, moods that run from ethereal to ominous, wistful to sorrowful, and always become huge dramatic, loud and disorientating (sometimes all within the same cue).
This edition of the special vinyl is limited to 3,000 copies that feature artwork from Greg Ruth. The tri-fold sleeve is foil-stamped with the film’s logo and each copy is numbered.
The Dune Sketchbook: Music from the Soundtrack vinyl goes on sale on Wednesday, October 13 on its site at www.mondoshop.com. The price is $45.
