Mortal Kombat Sequel Adds 2 Fan-Favorite Characters

Mortal Kombat

The 2021 ‘Mortal Kombat’ had the unfortunate fate of having a dual release during Warner Bros’ pandemic plan of releasing films in theaters and on HBO Max on the same day. The film was a massive success for the streaming service, but it didn’t do much at the box office.

Now the sequel to ‘Mortal Kombat’ has the opportunity to showcase what the franchise can do at the box office. To do that we are hearing that they are going to be bringing in some fan-favorite characters of the beloved video games.

With ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ allegedly starting to film in June, That Hashtag Show has revealed some of the new characters that will be in the sequel. They are Shao Kahn and Baraka.

According to their report, Shao Kahn is described as between 30 and 50 and could be a variety of ethnicities. He is tall, muscular, and just an enormous being. He is the emperor of the Outerworld, killing King Jerrod, taking the throne, and turning his queen into an undead servant.

Baraka is described also as a male between the ages of 30 and 50. He is a Tarkatan village warlord that is big and strong. One of his unique features is his razor-sharp teeth. Although he starts off as an enemy of Johnny Cage, he eventually joins his side after Cage impresses him with his fighting ability.

With the Mortal Kombat sequel adding King Jerrod and Queen Sindel, this could mean that Kitana also becomes a focal part of the film. She is the High Princess of Edenia, a young girl that is scarred for life after Shao Kahn defeats her parents. Also in the film could be Quan Chi, a demon of the Netherrealm that is known for his dark magic and necromancy.
