MoviePass Drops Monthly Subscription To $6.95 A Month For Limited Time

MoviePass has been absolutely killing it ever since they dropped their price down to $9.95 a month. Prior to that, they had a service that was priced differently all over the country, depending on the ticket prices around your area, and to many, it was a service that wasn’t really worth it. That changed with their new price point.

Last January, we reported that the service had reached 1.5 million subscribers over the course of a handful of months, proving that their service could be the future of moviegoing. However, some felt that this was a short-term victory. Given how much they were paying for tickets, they’d be losing money with every membership that watches more than one movie per month.

It doesn’t sound like MoviePass is concerned with this. Earlier today, MoviePass announced that they would be dropping their monthly price from $9.95 a month to $6.95 a month for “a limited time.” This price is even less than most places charge for a single ticket, so so long as users see one movie a month, their service has paid for itself. This is another attempt to get even more subscribers, and as of this writing, they have north of two million of them.

“Our vision has always been to make the moviegoing experience easy and affordable for anyone, anywhere,” MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe said in a statement. “With the current growth and support that we’ve seen within the last several months, our studio and exhibitor revenues and other marketing partnerships have motivated us to lower the price once again, offering movie lovers greater access to MoviePass.”

If you haven’t signed up yet, now may be the time to do so (I’m considering it myself).
