Mr. Mercedes Season 2: Script To Screen Featurette Highlights The Hero-Villain Dynamic

Yes, it may be a bit of a hassle to get a hold of, but if you have access to the Audience Network, I highly recommend you check out Season 1 of Mr. Mercedes. Based on the trilogy of books from Stephen King, that first season covers the first novel, which ends with the main villain in a coma (spoiler alert?). However, if you’ve read the second book, you know that they could not have actually adapted it as was.

Instead of following the plot of the second book, they re-focus the attention on the villain (Brady) and the hero (Hodges), who wants nothing more than for Brady to wake up so he can be brought to justice. This takes in a hefty chunk of End of Watch, the third book in the series, but it looks like they’re also taking some creative license, as indicated by the featurette above, where we see Brady in Hodges’ head.

“Brady vs. Hodges” features the two leads, Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, as well as writers and executive producers David E. Kelley, Jack Bender and Dennis Lehane discussing the continuing storylines and character development in the series, the classic “good vs. evil” contrast between Brady and Hodges and teasing what to expecting in the highly anticipated sophomore season.

Again, if you have yet to check out the first season, I highly recommend it, but be prepared, because this next season looks to take things in an oddly ungrounded direction

What do you think of that featurette? Let us know down below!

Mr. Mercedes returns to Audience Network on August 22 at 10pm ET/PT.
