We finally have Ms Marvel’s powers described in the new magazine from Empire. Kamala’s new powers have been the subject of much debate in the fandom. There are understandably fans upset that Kamala does not appear to have her embiggening powers in the MCU. Sadly for those fans, the powers mentioned in the piece don’t seem to match with her comic book powers.
In the print version, they describe Kamala’s powers as “cosmic super strength and the ability to manifest purple crystals via a pair of bangles.”

However does this tell the whole story? Check out this slowed down moment from the trailer and tell me it doesn’t look like Kamala is stretching here to perform the big fist slam which is one of her trademark moves?

If I knew nothing of the bangles I would just assume this was Ms Marvel using her emiggening powers, but with a strange purple glow. The point is, that whilst the bangles do seem to be the source for Kamala’s powers, it does also appear as though she can still use them to change her body size/shape in battle.

I guess we shall just have to wait and see for ourselves when Ms Marvel hits Disney + on June 8th? However I’m guessing there may be a few surprises we have not yet seen when it comes to Ms Marvel. I also have to say this was not a show I was very excited by as a concept. I only got introduced to Kamala for the first time in the recent Marvel’s Avengers game. However I did sit up and take notice of the excellent trailer. I was always going to watch this anyway. However that trailer did give me a little more hype for the show than I had before.
