My Senpai Is Annoying: A Slice-Of-Life Anime That’s Definitely Worth A Try

I normally don’t gravitate toward romantic comedies. I’ve never been a fan of big romantic gestures so the thought of someone outside my window with a boom box over his head would be mortifying. Say Anything was a great movie, but for me, I only needed watch it once. When I saw the trailer for My Senpai is Annoying or Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi, it definitely caught my attention. It was cute and not overly romantic. Also, if you’re interested in trying this series, don’t worry. I won’t spoil anything.

My Senpai is Annoying is an anime worth trying

Most Romantic Movies And TV Shows Make Me Cringe

I actually have a romantic gesture story that left me wanting to run. It was a double date and he wanted to dance with me in a bowling alley and it felt like forever for him to accept my refusal. Everyone was staring! Gives me anxiety just thinking about it. One of my favorite movies when I was little was Sleeping Beauty, but not because of the love story. It was because Merryweather was freaking awesome and I loved the three good fairies. I would just roll my eyes at their romantic scenes and wait for them to end. With My Senpai is Annoying, it’s not some overly romantic series. The romance is subtle and I enjoy the funny and cute moments. I normally am drawn to the anime you definitely wouldn’t want to show your kids or get sucked into yet another harem anime. I don’t know how that keeps happening.

It’s strange that out of Funimation’s Fall list, this slice-of-live anime was one of the top I wanted to watch. Second to be exact. And it’s definitely holding my interest. Also, it’s nice that it’s setting isn’t in high school. It’s done too many times. After each episode, it leaves me wanting to watch another. Episode 5, “Valentine Symphony,” was really great. I wonder if My Senpai is Annoying will cover White Day in an episode.

The series is, like many other anime, based on a manga series. And I, of course, won’t be reading it so I don’t spoil anything for myself. I do love watching anime that dives deep into a story. But sometimes, it’s nice to watch something that doesn’t have a bunch of details and backstory. So if you need an anime to watch that’s light that will warm your heart, check out My Senpai is Annoying.
