Russian Doll and Poker Face star Natasha Lyonne is the latest to be cast in The Fantastic Four in an unknown role. Recent weeks have seen Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich similarly cast in unknown roles for the movie. Prior to that we have had some named roles cast in Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer.
Deadline reports;
‘Marvel Studios keeps adding to its all-star cast for its upcoming The Fantastic Four movie as sources tell Deadline Emmy nominee Natasha Lyonne is set to join highly-anticipated Marvel pic. She joins a cast that already includes Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). Julia Garner is also on board to play Silver Surfer while Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich and Ralph Ineson are also on board.’
As you can see, there really isn’t much to go on.

Therefore, the only other thing we can discuss is who Lyonne is playing? Sadly, like Hauser and Malkovich we cannot really guess too accurately. There is one name I’ve seen a few fans theorize about with Lyonne. Alicia Masters, the (usually blind) girlfriend of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
Now, for me it kinda depends on how big a role Alicia has in the movie. I mean, do you cast Lyonne in a really small part? The actress is hot right now. And Alicia has so far been a very minor role in any live-action adaptations. Of course The Fantastic Four could be very different and the role of Alicia is meaty enough, and likely to be back for a sequel, that Lyonne makes sense.
Honestly though, any wild speculation would be just as valid. I mean, Lyonne could be playing Lavina Forbes the landlady of the Baxter Building from the 90’s cartoon. Unlikely, but who knows? Alicia may not show up until sequels as Ben lost his first wife after his transformation. Alicia always came along later in most versions of the story.
It’s going to be interesting when we find out who Hauser, Malkovich and Lyonne are playing. It may allow us to piece a bit more together about the direction of the movie’s plot.
